アジアの最も貧しい国のひとつバングラデシュは、気候変動の深刻な影響下にある。巨大サイクロンや氷河の融解による洪水で故郷を失い都市部に流入する人々が急増している。日々生まれる膨大な“気候難民”は首都ダッカをはじめとする大都市をめざすが、そこには住まいも仕事もなく厳しい生活が待っている。大都市の“難民”受け入れが限界に達しつつある中、沿岸部に近い地方都市で、人々を受け入れる取り組みが始まっている。輸出加工区を持つモングラもその一つ。しかし、その町にも“気候難民”が殺到し、地元自治体は対応に苦慮している。気候変動に翻弄される人々の苦闘の日々を伝える。

Cyclones, floods and other disasters have led millions to lose their homes and become climate migrants. Those migrating to major cities such as Dhaka struggle to find work, while even rural towns are seeing their populations explode. Infrastructure is failing and local governments are struggling to find solutions. But new projects are seeking a way forward.
